Kid Goes to Riverside

Yesterday morning bright and waaaaay too early, Becca went off to school to take a math test she was scheduled to miss otherwise, and then to get on the charter bus to Riverside for the California Mock Trial competition.  The bus left sometime between 9 and 9:30.

Shortly after 2pm, two hours from Riverside, the bus broke down.

Shortly before 6pm, the replacement bus arrived to pick them up and take them the rest of the way.  I have inquired, but have yet to learn what the kids did to amuse themselves on the dead bus.  Watch a movie?  Practice mock trial tactics?  Nap?  No one tells me anything.

They loaded on to the new bus, traveled for an hour, then stopped at The Spaghetti Factory for dinner.

Shortly before 11:30 the bus arrived at the hotel in Riverside.  I know the kid is still alive because she texted me today asking the punchline to a joke I had told her.  As the snake said in an old B.C. comic from many many many years ago, "the tollgates to tranquility are many and profuse."

...I think you might like a drink.
The thought had occurred to me.
