Lyme Disease is Older Than You Think

Apparently Ötzi, the Neolithic "iceman" who was pulled out (or melted out) of a Tyrolean glacier in the early 90's, had brown hair, advanced arteriosclerosis, and Lyme disease.

Further: his forebears had migrated from the middle east to the Alps, probably about 1,000 years prior to his life there. And its likely that his most direct descendants are in Sardinia and Corsica (maybe Bonaparte and Ötzi were related?).

I love this stuff.

If you love this kind of genetic information, you might enjoy looking up the research of Luca Cavali-Sforza. He's the scientist who first began using gene studies to trace patterns of human migration.
